All Handicraft Merit Badges are taught in the J.D. Jones handicraft shop that is located in the main area of camp just down the hill from the swimming pool. The building was originally built as a dining hall and a place for meetings but now provides a great place for Scouts to earn the Basketry, Leatherwork, Metalwork, Woodcarving and Pottery merit badges. The camp trading post, volleyball court, climbing wall, mountain bikes and other activities are located in close to the Handicraft Building.
This area is very popular with campers and over 1200 merit badges are passed in this area each year. With the exception of the woodcarving merit badge, all of the merit badges can be completed by first-year campers. The woodcarving merit badge is recommended for 2nd and 3rd year
