Camp Pioneer - Arrival Information

Arrival Procedures

SUNDAY - Transportation should be arranged so that you will arrive at Camp Pioneer NO EARLIER THAN 12:00 P.M. and NO LATER THAN 2:00 P.M. Your help is needed. The more prepared you are on arrival the faster you can be checked in.

  • Troops must check in on Sunday. We cannot accommodate early check in, no exceptions.

  • Transportation should be arranged so that you will arrive at Camp Pioneer NO EARLIER THAN 12:00 P.M. and NO LATER THAN 2:00 P. M. Your help is needed. The more prepared you are on arrival the faster you can be checked in.

  • A staff member will greet each troop in the main camp area near the parking lot. This staff member will try to help make the check in a more pleasant experience.

  • The Camp Pioneer check-in process is being refined to better serve the troops. A staff member will show the troop to the camp-site and conduct your camp site opening inspection. One-Way traffic will be observed. Many other troops are arriving, also. No vehicle will be allowed to block the roads. Then, the staff member will instruct you about the remaining check-in procedure and try to answer any questions.

  • Registration procedures will begin at 12:00 p.m. At least one adult leader from each troop must report to the office to register and pay remaining bills. Leaders of those troops who are fully paid and pre-registered must still report to the camp office. Be sure to have all fees and receipts for boys and rosters of Scouts and adults (prepared ahead of time) when reporting to register. Also, a release form filled out by a parent or guardian is required for any Scout who will be leaving the camp by other means.

  • The medical screening will begin at approximately 12:00 p.m. at the Health Lodge. Each Scout should bring his own annual medical form, filled out completely, and signed by his parent and a physician before the Scout's arrival at camp.

  • Buddy tags will be issued during the medical screening at the pool. After the medical screening, Scouts and adults will take their swimming ability tests.

  • Scouts who have not pre registered will register for their session during the check-in period. This will take place in the Data Post. See pre registration procedure for instructions. Troops whose Council requires “Blue Cards” or some other merit badge forms must bring the forms to camp. The forms need to be arranged by Merit Badge and include the Scouts’ names and Troop number. Be sure to coordinate turning forms in to the merit badge instructor on Thursday, and have all appropriate information filled out in advance.

  • All adult leaders (and senior patrol leaders if desired) will go to the Big House pavilion at 7:15 p.m. The camp program will be reviewed at this meeting and help will be given in completing troop’s program plans. Bring this Camp Leaders’ Guidebook.

  • The camp trading post will be open on Sunday. The coffee will be in the Scoutmasters' Shack.

  • A colored ID bracelet will be issued to every Scout and adult who registers in camp at check-in. These bracelets will be worn at all times and will be required for admittance to the dining hall and all activities. Lost or broken bracelets must be replaced and will cost $1.00 each for replacement.

  • During the registration procedure, each Troop will be asked how many visitors are expected from the troop for the Friday evening meal. This information is needed to be sure that the camp can be prepared for the number to be served. Visitors will pay at the beginning of the line to the meal, adults $6.00 and children under 10 years $3.00.

Remember that your troop program for the week is the timetable and guide for the camp staff.
The commissioner staff is always ready to help in planning and carrying out your troop program..
