about camp pioneer
At Camp Pioneer, all troop sites have wall tents, cots and mattress set up and ready for the use of Scouts and leaders. Each site is equipped with showers, restrooms, a storage building for equipment and a large shelter for troop meetings. Several of the troop sites are accessible to the physically handicapped. Swimming is held in two junior Olympic pools. Boating and canoeing are in Mountain Fork River.
For first-year Scouts, we offer the Pioneer Trail to First Class (formerly "Scout Skills") program, which focuses on developing skills necessary to achieve the rank of First Class. This area is designed with younger Scouts in mind, and is organized so that each Scout receives instruction and completes the skills at his own pace.
For older Scouts, Camp Pioneer offers a variety of Eagle-required merit badges, as well as other exciting programs, such as the COPE course, the Little Rich Mountain climbing tower, and the Mountain Man living-history program.
